Project Overview
Designed and built by Win-Win Remodeling—on budget and on time—this full main-level transformation reimagined an outdated kitchen, cramped laundry, and half bath into a warm, open, highly functional living hub. The project was selected for the Builders Association Tour of Remodeled Homes (4th year) and reflects our commitment to thoughtful design, craftsmanship, and long-term livability.
The Challenge
The homeowners loved their neighborhood and home, but the main level no longer supported how they lived—or how they planned to live in the years ahead. The kitchen felt closed off from the den, work surfaces were limited, storage was tight, and the powder room didn’t offer main-level accessibility. The laundry layout pinched circulation and competed for space needed to modernize the kitchen.
The Design Vision
Create a welcoming, open kitchen centered on connection and ease of use—without sacrificing storage or workflow—while quietly preparing the home for aging in place. The goal: beauty that feels effortless day-to-day, and a layout that supports long-term independence.
The Solution
- Opened the kitchen to the den by removing a load-bearing wall to create an inviting entertaining space
- Replaced tile countertops with quartz for a clean, contemporary finish
- Installed Café appliances for style and performance
- Added a hidden in-drawer charging station to keep counters clutter-free
- Nearly doubled work surface and increased cabinet storage by 35% with beautiful cabinetry
- Anchored the space with a large island seating five
- Upgraded lighting throughout for better ambiance and task visibility
- Added an instant hot water dispenser for everyday convenience
- Reconfigured the laundry by relocating a wall and closing an exterior door to improve flow and make room for the new range
- Converted the powder room to a full bath with a curbless shower and grab bars for safe, main-level accessibility
Special Features
- Open-concept kitchen with statement island
- Quartz countertops & contemporary backsplash
- Café appliance suite
- In-drawer charging station
- Layered lighting plan (ambient + task)
- Curbless shower for aging in place
- Improved circulation between kitchen, den, and laundry
The Result
The home now supports how this family actually lives—hosting, gathering, cooking, and planning for the future—without feeling “designed for aging.” The space is bright, open, and calm, with smart details that disappear into daily life. It’s a beautiful, functional upgrade that enables long-term, independent living in a home they love.
